A Mobile Roadmap For The Federal Government

The U.S. Chief Information Officer, Steven VanRoekel, announced the creation of a federal government-wide mobile strategy at the Consumer Electronics Show yesterday. The strategy, scheduled for release in March, is intended to help agencies take advantage of each other’s efforts to use mobile technology. To help with the planning effort, VanRoekel has launched a user-friendly(!) online platform to solicit comments from the public through January 20.

Then, you can join the national dialogue! Submit your ideas for the Federal Mobility Strategy and vote on those shared by others: http://mobility-strategy.ideascale.com/.

What do you think? Is this unified strategy overdue, or is it best left to individual agencies to consider mobile as they see a business need?
