GovLoop’s Bureaucrat on Sports – AP Top 25 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision – Rivalry Week (Week 14) Picks

Hope the Hokie Guru’s readers had a great Thanksgiving… we have a lot to be thankful for during this holiday season and the Hokie Guru encourages everyone to contribute to the Combined Federal Campaign (or the charity of your choice). Everytime the Hokie Guru thinks he has it rough at work, he remembers that he is fortunate that he has a job. Please remember others that are less fortunate than you.

Remember GovLoop’s Battle of the Colleges!!

It’s rivalry week in the Commonwealth of Virginia… welcome to the nastiest rivalry in the country!! It’s Virginia Tech vs. Virginia week!! BooVA!! The Hokie Guru might add that we are pounding the Boohoohoos in representation on GovLoop. The Hokie Guru is live blogging here in Blacksburg, VA… he’s here for the game and is going to watch the Boohoohoos go down to the Fighting Gobblers. GO HOKIES… BEAT THE CAVETTES!! After all, who is on top on those logos above?

Without further ado, it’s time for our second rivalry week picks!!

1.) #18 Georgia Tech at #13 GeorgiaMany questions in ths game. Can Georgia Tech’s seniors finally win a game against Georgia? Can Georgia continue it’s winning streak of eight wins in this rivalry? Are the Georgia Bulldogs prepared for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets triple option offense? The Hokie Guru thinks the Bulldogs, who had 14 days to prepare, can play assignment football and win this game!!

2.) #2 Florida at #23 Florida State – Multiple questions in this game, too. Will Florida score 50 points against Florida State? Will Florida score 60 points against Florida State? Will Florida score 70 points against Florida State? Will Florida coach, Urban Meyer, still try scoring points with two minutes to go in the 4th quarter, even though he is winnning by 4 or more touchdowns? Florida wins in unsportsmanlike fashion setting up a battle for the ages in the Southeastern Conference Championship with Alabama, who the Guru discusses in his next pick below.

3.) Auburn at #1 Alabama – Alabama is the #1 team in the nation. And it has lost to Auburn six years in a row. Alabama better not be looking past this game. After all, your biggest rival gets up for you. Nick Saban won’t let this happen… Roll Tide… Alabama wins!!

4.) #19 Oregon @ #17 Oregon StateThe 112th Annual Civil War. A Rose Bowl bid on the line for the Oregon State Beamers; a chance to play the Grinch who stole Christmas for the Oregon Ducks. Oregon State wins in a close, defensive battle.

5.) #3 Oklahoma at #11 Oklahoma StateBedlam!!! Lots on the line here… if Oklahoma wins, we have a three-way tie (between Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma) for the top in the Big 12 South Division. The winner of the South goes on to the Big 12 Championship game in beautiful Kansas City, MO. Bowl Championship Series rankings determine the three-way tie-breaker. Oklahoma will have a lot of motivation going into this game. But, so does Oklahoma State coach, Mike Gundy… he’s man… he’s 40…

This game is on the Hokie Guru’s recommended viewing schedule… Oklahoma wins in a shootout closer than the experts think (the Hokie Guru is an expert)… we may see 120 points in this game.

Have a great week, GovLoopers.
