OPM Advertises Vacant CIO Post, Seeks IT Leadership

The Office of Personnel Management has begun advertising its vacant chief information officer post on USAJobs and the candidate will be responsible for the agency’s information technology plans and policies.

OPM will accept applications through 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on May 30 and OPM’s executive resources board will make a recommendation on final selection of a candidate, according to the job ad.

USAJobs lists the CIO’s salary as between $119,554 and $179,700 per year and the successful applicant will join the Senior Executive Service.

The new CIO will also be responsible for developing, implementing and enforcing IT standards and other policies under OMB’s information technology resources productivity policy and the General Services Administration’s federal information resources management regulations.

Additionally, the hire will lead the agency to select and acquire data telecommunications and office automation systems equipment and services.

Having worked for OPM during the tenure of 2 different CIO’s IMO will be real interesting to see what type of CIO is chosen this time. Whether it will be a systems person or a customer person.
