The Eastern Regional NIEM Practical Implementer's Course is a three-day technical course designed to guide students through the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) in a structured process.
The course is intended for information exchange developers and implementers, focusing on an overview of NIEM and practical implementation techniques, and includes hands-on exercises reinforcing key NIEM concepts.
Lessons will guide participants through the XML terminology and concepts specifically used by NIEM, as well as the process of building Information Exchange Package Documentation (IEPD) through case study exercises. The case study takes students through the step-by-step process of building a NIEM-conformant exchange by building an exchange content model, mapping objects to NIEM, schema subset generation, creation of extension and exchange schemas, and packaging and distribution methods.
The course instructor will spend time bringing all of the components of the training together, providing examples, and responding to questions. Attendees should expect exercises to be conducted that will require student participation, and students are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop for class work. Prior XML experience is strongly recommended!
For questions or more information about the NIEM Practical Implementer's Course, contact the IJIS Institute training department at training@ijis.org.
