Ever curious about how to get traffic to government info...pretty simple make it unique, compelling, and fun.
For example, CDC's recent blog that has gone viral about Social Media Preparedness for Zombie attacks.
http://emergency.cdc.gov/socialmedia/zombies_blog.asp
I checked google news and over 149 news articles about this blog post from CDC with coverage from Washington Post to Fox News and other huge sources
I'm curious about how much traffic they are getting to this post. Earlier today it was down from too much traffic.
The real opportunity on days like this is how to take this 1-time traffic and turn into regular relationships.
Love how there's a signup for email updates and sign up for RSS really prominent on the blog post to the right. Important to take these 1-time moments and get people to sign up for something (whether FB fan or email or RSS)
(Disclaimer - the email updates sign up is provided by GovDelivery - GovLoop is an independent subsidiary of GD)
