Couple thoughts:
-Looks totally different to me than any other .gov site...I like that. It was starting to feel like everything was a take off of whitehouse.gov
-Really crisp, clean beautiful look

Downside
-No links to anything else - no email signup, FB, Twitter, etc
When a Register item is displayed in full, it has FB and Twitter (and Reddit and Digg) share links along the top. Or are you looking for other functionality?
I see it.

I was looking more at generally is there a broader FederalRegister.gov Twitter and Facebook handle so you can get updates on all registrants. Similarly a newsletter you send out.

Also, I just tried to share to Twitter and only the link populates in Twitter. No text does. I think it should have the title of the document. For example, share this GL discussion on Twitter with the button and the title comes with it.
Agreed! "only the link populates in Twitter. No text does. I think it should have the title of the document. "
It looks like someone took to hear the Grad School's webinar called "Writing for Web 2.0". If the underlying information is a useful as the site appearance suggests, perhaps the Feds have taken a small step for mankind!
AGree...looks super 2.0
Some feedback from a listserv I'm on:

This project represents a victory on multiple fronts:
learning from the field (Apps for America)
collaborative process
reasonable budget
open-source deliverables
citizen-focused functionality
I think you're referring to Federal Register 2.0, which is located at federalregister.gov, not federalregister.com . I believe federalregister.com is a private-sector database, published by Citation Technologies, Inc. I've posted my comments about Federal Register 2.0 here.
RT @bethnoveck @govpulse Source code of Federal Register 2.0 now available on Github! http://bit.ly/9w5yyN
Looks great and easy to navigate . . . on Firefox. Look at the same site in IE6 (layout melts into a scattered mess).

Another example of how foolish security consistencies are the hobgoblins of Gov2.0.

#CentralizedITDeptFail
We deliberately did not optimize the FR 2.0 site for IE 6 because Microsoft no longer supports it. IE 8 is now the standard in my agency. We may look at this issue again, but our development budget was very limited. We decided to keep costs low by eliminating non-essential extras.
My argument exactly!

What exactly is so secure about using an out-of-date browser that Microsoft no longer supports? And failure to upgrade means that workers are missing out on vital information necessary for their job.

Sorry about the rant but it irritated me when I sent around an email to my colleagues on how great FR 2.0 is and how we should copy the design for our web revamp. Then, when I went to talk to some colleagues, they were surprised I was so enthusiastic about such a mess of a website. When I showed them what FR 2.0 looked like in Firefox, then they got the idea and love the site.
