Wouldn't it be cool if Socrata would....

Ok, don't keep it in and don't feel you need to be practical.  Think small or think big and share that cool thing that would make you smile if the Socrata site could do it.

Did people see Todd Park, CTO of HHS, presentation on Open Data?  I thought may be useful so I embedded it here

Hi everyone. Thanks Karen for creating this group for current and future Open Data practitioners on Socrata. Thank you Mary, Wally and Steve for getting the conversation going. I'm glad to join you in this group! I will do my best to answer questions and loop in other Socrata resources as necessary.

That would be cool...I'd love to see folks in this group write a blog post series on their experience making open data a reality/whats working/whats hard.

Also we are really interested in visualizing our data and would be interested in any way partnering there

Would love to hear ideas how we could use data.govloop.com better which is on Socrata.  We've used it in two different ways:

1 - Display cool relevant data like regarding federal employment demographics

2 - Almost like a wiki where we do stuff like have list of cities with data sites

Angie:

We'll let you know as soon as we figure it out (we're doing some research into options).

Just a  questions - at the usergroup conference call, there was talk of posting a powerpoint and/or other materials from the call to this site.  Is that going to happen or do we need to directly contact someone?

Hi all!

Pinch me!  We need to invite Govloop to be a member of GOSDOS! Govloop is on Socrata too!  Check it out.

So - what did folks think of the first usergroup 'meeting'? What could we improve upon? What should the next one be like?  Planners tossed around the idea that future sessions could be based on topic, like 'health data' or 'transit data' or 'environmental data' etc.  For WA state, do you think more basic tutorials are needed to sort of 'catch up' with OR?  Do you think it'd be useful to advertise the next session to civic app developers to hear what kind of data they imagine we have that they'd love to have access to?  If yes, how would we find them?
