Do you mean purchasing things for your dept. over the micro threshold?

Hi Christopher.  There are a number of commercial electronic acquisition system providers that normally compete for Federal agency business, DSI's AAMS, CompuSearch's PRISM, CACI's Comprizon, CGI-Federal's Momentum Acquisitions, to mention a few.  Deeper discussion of the benefits of any particular solution on GovLoop would, in my mind, enter the blatant marketing realm, but let me take a stab at answering in another way, however.  A number of Federal Agencies over the last several years have advertised for electronic contract management systems, all of which had document management and paperless filing requirements.  All were competitive.  Several are still open, such as CMS and OJP.  Others included DOL, NRC, MCC, FRTIB, FERC, NGA plus some others that I can't remember at the moment.  I suspect that the RFQ or RFP requirements are still available under the FBO archive.  Please let me know if this helps any.  Cheers.  Pete

Hi! It is great to have all these references to internal requirements at the federal level below. My experience comes from a state agency perspective. I implemented paperless systems for a housing agency so my compliance issues primarily came from HUD, but I also had to meet state records management requirements, so be sure that those requirements are a part of your process. If you are looking for general ideas about the world of "paperless government" you might check the website site - http://www.hyland.com/government . I loved the potential of "paperless" so much that I left my agency to work for the software company that made my solution. There are many customer ideas there and I post my blogs here on GovLoop and they talk about the paperless idea in a number of government settings as food for thought. My feeling is that paper processes will be impossible to sustain as we downsize government, but I was also concerned that government service had just become pushing paper and that it was sucking the life out of our staff. I wanted them to use their expertise to improve the constituent experience and to make a bigger impact on our communities. However you decide to proceed, I believe that we have to do it to save our staff and to take government to a different level in terms of service and the quality of life for folks that choose public service.
