GovLoop - Social Network for Government

If you could dialogue with a senior leader about acquisition, who would it be?

We'd like to bring some high-level experts - could be government practitioners, instructors. etc. from Federal, state and local government - to talk about the hot topics and key issues in acquisition and contracting on GovLoop.

If you could name some people you'd like to see us interview (or maybe that you would like to interview yourself!) or with whom you'd like to dialogue more directly, who would it be?

I highly recommend Lt. Col. Dan Ward, USAF. He is Chief of Acquisition Innovation, Acquisition Chief Process Office, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of the Air Force for Acquisitions Integration. Don't let the lengthy title fool you. He is a very out-of-the-box thinker and communicator who is also well published and a creator of such concepts as FIST (Fast, Inexpensive, Simple, Tiny). You can check out his work in the archives of Defense AT&L magazine (the professional journal of the Defense Acquisition University), including such seminal efforts as "The Rogue Program Management Art of War" (May-June 2005).
Thanks, Dick! Any sense as to how to approach him or questions you'd like to ask?
Andy- Send Dan an email. He is very responsive and would be a great resource. His FIST concepts are fantastic and he is a truly an innovator.

Awesome, Jaime! Thank you!

Got some specific questions you'd like me to ask him that would be interesting/beneficial to the community?
I opened up the discussion in the Young Acquisition Professionals group and we're 12 comments into some great ideas!

Was at Kennedy School with Chris Hamm of GSA this week. I like the way that guy thinks.
Chris Hamm is the bomb! Genius, innovative, and leading BetterBuy for GSA.
I'd love to get people from some of the biggest contracts:
-SEWP
-Deepwater
-CIOSP3

And also some people who do lots of small contracts everyday

I think there is a lot of variation in acquisition and would love to highlight
NITAAC is happy to speak on its CIO-SP contract -- we're in a holding pattern for 3 because of evaluations, but you can go to http://nitaac.nih.gov/nitaac/contact to reach our Director, Deputy Director or Customer Support.
NASA SEWP is always happy to participate in Govt acquisition discussions - contact Marcus Fedeli - marcus.a.fedeli@nasa.gov
Jeff Parsons - Army Contracting Command and his counterparts at the other services
Mike Canales - DPAP
Ashton Carter - OSD

Would love to see a discussion on the way the various services approach interagency and assisted acquisitions and why they chose the implementation they did (since it's all based off same DoD policy but works vastly different)
All great suggestions for individuals you would like to rub elbows with! Now what do you want to ask them? Click here to post your responses.
