Hello!

I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Norman Adkins and I am currently a member of AGA and its local Triangle Chapter in North Carolina. I serve as Secretary of my local chapter.

I thought I would see if there are others out there who might be members of a local AGA chapter. Do you find that you get CPEs from your local chapter? If so, what types of strategies does your chapter deploy in order to get their members access to quality CPEs?

I look forward to having some great discussions with this group.

Regards,

Norman

Norman,

A response from my colleague, Joe Jozefczyk, AGA's Director of Education:

I am the National Director of Education for AGA and although I cannot speak about the strategies used by specific local AGA chapters to meet the CPE needs of members, I thought that I would provide some “generic” information from my perspective.

Most chapters employ a wide variety of “forums” to provide quality training and education to their members. These include:

 hosting periodic breakfasts and luncheons featuring a speaker(s) as part of the program,
 subscribing to one or more of AGA”s audio conferences,
 convening local or regional conferences over a day or more during which speakers present over several topics,
 encouraging attendance at one of the AGA National Office’s national conferences (Professional Development, Leadership, Performance Management and Fraud) which are held at various locations throughout the year,
 using the various on-line education providers (SmartPros, MicroMash, CCH and Becker CPA) that partner with AGA, and
 purchasing one or more of the 19 on-site education courses offered by the AGA Education Department.

I also suggest that you visit the AGA web site (www.agacgfm.org) for more information about training and education opportunities offered by AGA. Many of the programs mentioned above can be found under the Continuing Education icon.

I would be happy to continue this dialogue if you have additional questions or you would like more information.

Regards,
Joe Jozefczyk
AGA National Director of Education
