We've seen tweet-ups, meet-ups, virtual Q and A's, polls and more. With more and more government figures and organizations hitting the web to engage with citizens, surely some best practices and cool examples of engagement have been witnessed.
What is the Coolest Way You've Seen Government Engage?
I love seeing virtual town halls. They are a great way to get a group of citizens engaged and talking from all over a county, state, or even the entire country.

Permalink Reply by Andrew Nash on February 22, 2012 at 2:49am I just attended a fascinating conference in Amsterdam called Social Cities of Tomorrow. One part was an intense three-day charrette working on a real world planning problem. While the main goal was to use new technology to make cities more social, this group realized that many people don't have access to these technologies, especially older or people with less money ... they came up with the idea of a "Lunch Bus" the bus would serve lunch and have tables where people could discuss plans for the neighborhood using tools like paper table cloths with maps where they could draw.
I think food always helps bring people together, and who doesn't like drawing on tablecloths?
More about the conference on my blog: social cities of tomorrow workshops charrette results, social cities of tomorrow keynotes my notes from the four main conference speakers, and social cities of tomorrow project showcase a set of 12 really cool IT applications to make cities better.
