A joint initiative, NatRisk, University of Turin and Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso La Repubblica. In the framework of the research project "Collaborative management of data for geological monitoring and civil protection" of the University of Turin, Italy, with the collaboration of two local newspaper editions "Tirreno" and "La Repubblica Genova", a crowdmap has been set up to document the damages caused by the flash flood that struck the area of La Spezia and Lunigiana.
The crowdmap has the purpose to gather and geolocate images and video from the field with the collaboration of the population of the aerea and the bodies involved in the relief operations.
This initiative could represent a first step to promote a proactive collaboration among the scientific community, media representative, citizens and civil protection structures and bodies.
The collected data will be used to carry out analysis on the event.
