Mentoring Manager Advice Sought: The Department of Commerce, O/S OHRM is considering implementing a competency management program, particularly in the technical competency area. We are considering using a mentoring contractor's software to match pairs. It costs $447 per person. That seems expensive to me. I wondered if I could just pair individuals on the SharePoint "for free" where the only expense would be staff time. Would not be involved in the pairing be worth the cost estimate? I greatly appreciate any other feedback as well. Thank you for your consideration.
Nancy -- thanks for the heads up -- should never post late on Friday PM!
Marilyn -- working on becoming more available beyond the greater DC area.
Thanks for your input!
Comment by Marilyn on January 6, 2012 at 5:01pm Will there be a virtual session this time as well?
Or at least share the presentations or record them...?
The attachment is for September.
We (Dept. of State) use surveys of participants 2 x during program that ask for feedback on the items you raise. Have not linked up with data from HR system to verify moves and grades, tho that would be the gold standard, as long as there is a long enough time frame -- say 2- 5 -- years to see long term results... Come to FMR to hear more from others on this topic.
