A contractor named Mountain Quest Institute has been contacting all the FS employees who are inside GovLoop. I've heard from several people that this has created confusion. MQI has been contracted by the WO to create a Knowledge Sharing and Conservation Toolkit. MQI wants to hear about your practices and habits for sharing knowledge. They've been using a survey and phone interviews. The attached explains more about their project. I hope you'll consider talking more with them about their project as it will benefit all of us. You can find them at

It was really great seeing many of you in Seattle last week (Enterprise Unit Partnership meeting). I really appreciated the amount of laughter in the meeting. It's a testament to the morale in our innovative program.

GovLoop could fill a niche that has long been missing in my virtual world... water cooler chats with co-workers! :o)

Slowly but surely this group is growing. Coo! It'd be great to hear feedback if any of you have had -- or might have -- the time to check out the changes we've just made to the Enterprise Program intranet site. Do you ever use it or refer others to use it for getting info about the program?

Thanks Bill for the invite. As a way of introduction I'd just like to say first that I appreciate the work of Forest Service folks as I have enjoyed many a hike with my kids and wife as they were growing up and now with my grandkids (ages 5 and 7). Much of my perspective has been informed by the concepts and principles of Systems Theory and the methodology of System Dynamics, being a surfer and musician over the years, and quiet time around water (lake, river, ocean, etc.).

As Bill Helin mentioned, Dan Compton and I have been supporting the Enterprise Program as the 10 year mark gives an opportunity to look back and build on what has been found to be strong and then to consider what is possible in determining what is next. I always like to come from a "what's right" perspective of finding what already exists that can support (or using what already exists in an interesting way so as to create that support) when looking to the future. It also says that whatever is desired needs to fit into what is already there so that bridges are being built and adaptive process are being activated.

Glad to be here, and look forward to the interactions.

Notice above there's a Discussion Forum. Any of us can start a conversation about anything. I placed one there called "Introduce Yourself Here" because not everyone in the program knows everyone else. I encourage you to take a few minutes and introduce yourself, particularly as our numbers continue to grow. Thanks!

Word is slowly but surely getting out that the EP govloop group exists. This AM I sent an invite to our Steering Committee, Bob Wiebe & Dan Compton with Boeing, and David Miller with Dialogos. Boeing and Dialogos are providing assistance to the program in helping us think to the future. Thanks to Toni for the suggestion to invite them. Bob just joined so our small group is growing.
