Our GovDelivery stats...
Here at the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) we make the most of the GovDelivery system. I was putting the analytics report together and had to share with the group to see if anyone else had these kind of numbers. Here are our July stats:
In July, GovDelivery delivered 1,718,706 WSDOT messages.
On July 31, there were 126,610 subscribers to 201 different WSDOT e-mail updates.

Because we have so many offerings there is a wide distribution of interest. The 520 bridge project has over 4,00 people signed up to it, the I-90 Snoqualmie pass report alert has nearly 3,000 people signed up (only updates in the winter months). One really unique use that has proven popular is the group of folks who are signed up to be notified when the Hood Canal bridge closes. This bridge is in a remote location and it opens for Navy submarines (this closes the bridge to vehicle traffic) to go through it. Because of security concerns we have been asked not to tell people in advance of those openings. However, we are able to send an update once the bridge has already opened and many people (1,900 of them) really appreciate knowing when it has been closed to traffic and then we send another update to let them know it is open to traffic again. The majority of these people have enabled text messages to be sent to them.
Hands down though the largest group is those who get updates about the Good To Go! tolling system, there are over 54,000 people signed up to get those notifications. -

So a lot of it is the "long tail" - lots of niche topics. -

Interesting. My Federal Agency has 35 GovDelivery topics (and we evaluate additional ones each month for inclusion by having a form on our website for users to suggest new topics we don't currently have covered). We have a total of 178221 subscriptions. 17 topics with 5000 or more subscribers. Some of our most popular topics include speeches by our Administrator, our calendar of events, Recovery Act information, and Livability topics.
