If anyone is involved or interested in shared services (reduce spending and meet federal guidelines), there is an online event with speakers from NASA, Department of Education, Department of Agriculture and more that will go over everything. See the link below

Does anyone have any suggestions for good groups to join - I am a CPA/Banker looking for contracting opportunities in Washington.  I just finished a project for the OIG at the Small Business Administration.  Thanks for any advice!

Q&A: Rep. Platts on his new financial management oversight subc...

Among the new House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee chairs announced Jan. 18 by its chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is Rep. Todd Platts (R-Pa.), a familiar name for those who track congressional oversight on federal financial management and systems. Platts, who will head up the subcommittee on government organization, efficiency and financial management, chaired essentially the same subcommittee for five years until 2007, when Republicans then lost their majority standing.

Do you have a background in Government Finance and want to work in the Environmental Field? I have an exciting opportunity for someone to work for the State of Arizona at our sister agency which finances the construction, rehabilitation and/or improvement of drinking water, wastewater, wastewater reclamation, as well as other water quality facilities/projects.

Here's the details:

Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona -WIFA
Executive Director

The State of Arizona is seeking an Executive Director who is a highly skilled administrator with government experience, an outstanding financial background, and proven leadership skills. The Director will be responsible for the administration of $1.5 billion in outstanding loans, $900 million of revenue bond debt, actively participate in the development of future loans and bonding issues. The Director will work closely with financial advisors, bond attorneys, federal/state, tribal, and local government officials. Please apply on-line at with a COVER LETTER and RESUME.

Looking forward to interacting with this group. I joined govloop days ago, and am enthralled with the network! I am a CPA managing Hurricanes Katrina and Rita funding for our local government. I am currently striving to bolster our procurement system and develop templates for bid spec's and contracts. Lots of fun! Any good ideas or experiences - PLEASE SHARE!

Hi All,

My name is Barry Sims. I am a staff accountant at the Naval Research Lab. I am a CPA and CGFM. I also passed the CFE exam and I have a Master's degree in Accounting. I am most interested in developing a better knowledge of Federal financial accounting and in holding positions of greater responsibility in it. I look forward to your contributions and to hopefully contributing some knowledge of my own.
