Don’t miss Plain Talk in Complex Times! This new conference, slated for July 29th and 30th in Alexandria, VA, addresses the urgent challenges of communicating complex health-related information, especially after health reform. Discounted early-bird registrations end May 31st.
At Plain Talk, you will hone your skills, learn new strategies and connect with leaders and pioneers of health literacy, plain language, accessibility, translation, new media, design and usability testing. Hear Andrew Wilson speak about the government’s use of social media, Bergel and Dias share their research on Web accessibility, and Erica Estrus talk about how to communicate better with seniors. Attend two featured panel discussions: professionals who have disabilities will talk about experiences using the internet, and experts on cross-cultural concerns (translation, interpreter services, multi-lingual call centers and the CLAS standards) will talk about strategies to improve communication with foreign- language speakers.
The one-and-a-half-day conference will be preceded by four skill-building workshops: Design that Delivers; Social Media Camp; Usability Testing on a Dime: Why, Where and How; and Literacy Audits Made Easy.
