Remakes, remixes, remashes, remesses. What are pairs of performances of the same song by different artists that you both love for different reasons? Here's mine.  You can't really appreciate the former if you listen to Aretha first. But I do like…Continue

I'd say especially electronic music is really growing where the DJ is basically an artist (this is different than just some club in Dupont where people go for a meat market and the DJ just plays standard music).  Some of biggest touring artists now are DJ's (Tiesto, Deadmau5) and most of top 40 music has a really heavy electronic flavor right now (which is kind of interesting/odd)

See how 930 club & U Street Music club are partnering now - http://www.brightestyoungthings.com/articles/930-club-and-u-street-...

Snakehead run - thats an awesome name - I just liked that one :)

I've heard of at least one place that fills up with a $20 cover for a DJ.  Just amazing to me.

Ah...good question Jim.  Missed this.

I love going to shows in DC when I'm in town.  Been to 930 club, Black cat, Jammin Java, and others.

Actually went to see my 1st DJ over Thanksgiving at U Street Music hall - was pretty sweet

What kind of band are you in?

Jim Bunch Comment by Jim Bunch on December 9, 2011 at 5:55pm

Ok - Here's a question for the Gov Loop folks that live in DC.  Do you prefer going to live music or DJ Clubs, and why?  In the interest of full disclosure, at night I play in a couple of bands.  DC has a reputation of not really supporting live music but seems to have a fairly active night life with high covers for DJs, etc.  And the large percentage of government workers has been blamed on occasion.  Is it true?

Everyone vote for Marcus Canty on X-Factor. He was in my son's class at DeMatha High School. I heard him sing a mean "Star Spangled Banner." Hear him sing to Rhianna here.

Cool discussion going on about music at work and if it makes you more productive. Check out the discussion here.

And for me, music at work can help me focus. Especially when I have alot of writing.
