Remakes, remixes, remashes, remesses. What are pairs of performances of the same song by different artists that you both love for different reasons? Here's mine.
You can't really appreciate the former if you listen to Aretha first. But I do like them both.

"Butterflies" is a song first recorded by Michael Jackson.
It was written and composed by Andre Harris and Marsha Ambrosius, and produced by Jackson and Harris.
The track appears on Jackson's tenth studio album, Invincible (2001).
The track was remixed by one of the original writers, Marsha Ambrosius, on her 2011 album, "Late Nights & Early Mornings"

No links here, but I think of:
"My Favorite Things." Great version by Diana Ross and the Supremes and then the one by John Coltrane. I loved it when the be-bop jazz artists covered a song. I also think of the many tunes covered by Miles Davis; for example, "Someday My Prince Will Come."
Pictures of Matchstick Men." A hit in the '60's by Status Quo, this was later covered by Camper Van Beethoven in the '90s.
I liked it when Aerosmith covered the Beatles' "Come Together." It was a grittier version, of course.
Elton John also covered the Beatles when he did "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds." He also covered "Pinball Wizard" by the Who. This was a bit after his prime.
Speaking of the Who, in the '70s they covered "Summertime Blues" by Eddie Cochran. Of course, the British have always loved Cochran, ever since he died very young in an English Cab accident. The Who's version, found on "Live at Leeds," rocked a whole lot more than the original version, and surely more so than the version done by Blue Cheer.
