Permalink Reply by GovLoop on July 19, 2011 at 10:18am ha...love this one. i always bitched about this when i was a fed too.
honestly the problem is the infrastructure costs - NextGen 1st conference I've run and it's amazing how costs of everything add up (hotel space, rent wifi, printing schedules, food, etc) plus the time to pull it all together is a ton.
Permalink Reply by Paul Boos on July 19, 2011 at 4:03pm Agile Coach Camp is costing $20/person, Agile Tech DC costs $100/person (early bird of $50), MongoDC was $100/person and they had smaller audiences (thus no economies of scale as far as incoming ticket sales). Portions of Agile Coach Camp and Agile Tech DC went to charities too. Perhaps it is planning for an expensive venue when it isn't needed and not getting more significant sponsorship $.
Just my 2 cents...
