A client of mine recently went out and met with a spokesperson for the D.C. Capital Bikeshare program.  We filmed it and captured some great footage. Here is a link to the video

It was really interesting to hear about the technology that was used to maintain the program and ensure availability of bikes not to mention that they have to have crews that patrol around to ensure bikes are working and repaired.  In fact, during the conversation we saw the "street team" come out and do an evaluation.

How did folks deal with the rain today? Metro? Car? Bus? Rickshaw? or pulled your covers over your head and stayed home?

Great quote!

So as the weather starts getting a little more challenging, what are your fall backs for commuting? When it starts raining do you head for the car or just go back to bed?

Actually what is very interesting is that the gentleman who started Sluglines.com started it as a volunteer endeavor while working a government job - sound familiar? He retired from government and then went into private industry about a year ago. We see him every now and then when we are handing out slug line signs. Slugging has been around for over 25 years and there are even "official" slug lines stops inside the Pentagon parking lot.
I have lots more on this as we look at a variety of other transportation modes coming to the DC area!

I've never slugged myself..I'm sure it's out there but would be a cool blog/book on the history of slugging.

Not a bad idea. Quick Run over to Discovery Communications and pitch your idea. This would be perfect on TLC

I think slugging could make for an amazing TV show. Maybe not TV but just like a website that constantly streams. So basically it's me (the driver) with a webcam just picking up slugs all day and seeing the awkwardness that ensues.
