I am confused?

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, a Republican, wandered off script somewhat Sunday as a surrogate for the Mitt Romney presidential campaign, saying that President Barack Obama's stimulus measures helped his state weather the economic crisis.

McDonnell, a potential vice presidential candidate who has sought to walk a tightrope between conservatives and moderates, said on CNN's "State of the Union" that federal assistance aided Virginia in balancing its budget, but he said it had no positive long-term impact.

"Did it help us in the short run with health care and education and spending to balance the budget? Sure," McDonnell said. "Does it help us in the long term to really cut the unemployment rate? I'd say no."

And the field narrows.  It is finally down to Obama and Romney.  Yeah, Ron Paul is holding out but he has about the same chance as Buddy Roemer.  It physically pains me to hear folks like Gingrich still harping on the "Obama is a socialist" thing. Really?  Check a better analysis:  Political Compass 2012 Election .

Obama has moved to right.  He's not even what I would call a moderate conservative, he's pretty well committed to the right.  But though I can think of a few choice things to call our president, the wacky right can only define him in leftist terms which are by definition inaccurate.  I wish the electorate would just read a book or something...

Tried, unsuccessfully, to find a group that would be appropriate for this type of issue (Would like to believe that the delivery of health care issues would perhaps NOT be a political issue once we get beyond the current rather caustic political battle
