GovLoop - Social Network for Government

BusMeister, a public transport application (game, forum, best practices library) I've been developing is ready ... I would be interested in getting feedback from the govloop community.

My goal is to use the game to teach non-professionals about public transportation and then encourage them to post ideas for how to improve their city's public transport system in the forum.

If this works I hope to add pedestrian, bike and urban design to the system.

You can find the game here:

I would love your feedback, thanks!

Andrew,

I sure am intrigued by the game and application. I think the potential is fantastic as a crowdsourcing type of resources for transportation agencies that are wanting to get public input on plan or initiatives of a variety of sorts. Have you gotten any agencies to bite on this?

Hi Darrel

Thanks for the message. Unfortunately it's slow going with agencies. We thought the local public transport agency here in Vienna would decide to use it since we had a few meetings with them and they seemed interested. In the end they decided that they did not have the budget for it. I think that they were also a bit leery about supporting a forum where people could say bad things about them ... makes sense in an old fashioned way, but deadly in a web 2.0 world (I think). Also, they were happy that they had 3000 'friends' on facebook after two weeks ... but my goal is not creating 'friends' but rather people committed to really helping support public transport agencies and their work. In summary, this is a work in progress! Thanks again for your comment.
