The Mestizo population has been migrating north to what is now the United States since the time of the Aztecs and Mayas.

I dont think they really care that we drew a line in the sand. They are a little harder to dominate than American Indian Tribes were, and they are not going to go away.

Why are Americans so set against the Mexican Aliens? When there was a lot of work, we were glad to have help, but now we only have enough for ourselves.

Isn't the real problem illegal employment and illegal employers?

I am disabled, and a I have a 62 year old Philappina girlfreind. She is a legal
resident alien, and has been here for 7-8 years.
She may not be able to pass a citizenship test. She only went to first grade. That seems dumb to us that have sa little education, but I assure you that she is very smart in many other ways, like home health remedies, gardening and horticulture, exotic cooking, and social politeness. She has definite political ideas, because she keeps up on the news. Will she ever have a vote here in America?

I was happy to find this group, but a little disappointed to find so few people actually working with immigration law on a regular basis here. Almost as bad as when I discovered USCIS has a Twitter account, but only uses it for office closings. Somehow it needs to be re-booted!

There is a friend of mine who is an EWI and I would like to know which form on the USCIS website would be a good starting ground to permenent residence in America for him.

Welcome to the group Lynn, I hope to dedicate some more time to developing this line soon so we can stir up some good discussion.

.

I just met with the Ombudsman yesterday, so it is a funny coincidence that I found this group today. I think this group is a great idea... immigration is a critical topic for the new administration... look forward to the discussions.

That would be helpful. I understand that defendants who are found guilty don't have many options but I really would like to talk to someone who could give me more information. Some criminal cases are dismissed or the defendant is found not guilty and that brings a new twist as well as our officers often do not know what their legal obligation is as far as reporting alien status and all the different terms. If you find a good lead for me, it will be much appreciated. Thanks for the quick response!

Pleased to meet you Sherma. I am an analyst with the CIS Ombudsman's office and started this group to create some energy here. While the options for aliens in criminal and/or removal proceedings are few and far between, I am not a good source for such advice as my background has been in business related immigration. Please allow me to work on this bit and I will try to identify a good lead.

I am a Policy and Program Development Manager for the D.C. Pretrial Services Agency. We regularly come into contact with defendants with immigration issues and questions related to renewing visas, or obtaining work permits, securing government identification, etc. I am interested in networking with someone who could educate me on the "ABC's" of immigration law or at least find a good contact person I could go to. Any suggestions??
