Thanks Govloop - keep em coming!
Tammy - here's another answer from Twitter
Applies at federal level but perhaps you can leverage the thinking of the memo
We use GA at CFPB. Shouldn't be a problem thanks largely to OMB M-10-22.
May interest my metrics folks..
Do you want data on how often you take a coffee break? How much time you spend in meetings/?
Interesting post - "Can personal analytics save the work day?"

Thanks Steve! Great feedback - thank you fellow govies!
You may also want to show the section that IT fears gives ownership of the content to Google and show it to your County's attorney. If your attorney doesn't have a problem with it, then IT shouldn't either.
Thank you Phillip and Tanya. This gives me some good info to back to the debate room. Hoping to make some lead way.
Hi Tammy. I work for the Ontario provincial government. We have enterprise-wide use of Google Analytics. There was resistance to adopt at first, but a Privacy Impact Assessment completed by an internal legal team and IT determined there's no problem with content ownership.
Well, if your IT department is as uninformed as they appear to be, I'd suggest asking them specifically where their source of information is regarding Google. Many IT departments thrive on intimidating the "business" side of the organization...until they start asking questions that requires IT to validate their exaggerated statements. You can be assured that if GA is good enough for Federal agencies who need to adhere to strict rules and regs about privacy and security, its good enough for a local gov agency.
Thanks for the quick reply Phillip. I'll read through and see if I can find what it is they are concerned about. Curious how many other local government sites are tracking their analytics through Google. Would seem like the logical choice to me but I'm clearly not the IT dept.
Tammy -
That is ridiculous...Here are the Terms of Service...nothing in here about owning content: http://www.google.com/analytics/tos.html
Good luck!
