Is WordPress the best alternative to Sharepoint for collaboration? Joe makes the case here:

I'm looking for any governments currently using WordPress for their employee intranet. Know of any?? Thanks.

@Joyce, I think the discussion you're looking for is here: http://www.govloop.com/group/mobilityforgovernment/forum/topics/wha...

WordPress is a well created access portal for blogs or websites.  That compliment being said, I wanted to add my comments about the NTSB on cell phone safety.  I believe the use and drop method when passing by a law enforcement vehicle is very common.  Headset users or those individuals with advanced verbal technology in their cars are focused on their personal task.  I agree with the NTSB.  I support pulling over, parking safely, and conducting conversations in that manner.  Financial penalties have failed.  Law Enforcement is generally multi-tasking with lights and sirens.  Vehicle codes implore that we pay attention when driving any vehicle.  Thumbs up on limitations and vehicle code support when ignored.  Considered the driver as engaged/impaired and impose more  than a slap on the hand and business as usual.  I may use WordPress as a personal blog/forum for the incidents that I have personally encountered.  And, I do you use WordPress for business development.

If you haven't already, you may be interested in taking a look at WP Document Revisions, a document management and version control system built on top of WordPress. Given that it is open source, it may prove a less costly alternative to SharePoint for government intranets.

Anyone catch this: http://www.govloop.com/profiles/blogs/wordpress-just-got-even-more

I've been embedding Google doc and whatnot for a while it seems. But if you don't know now you know!
