In a recent blog post on Reach The Public, Mike Bernard discusses a new marketing strategy some have coined: Human to human (H2H). Simply put, H2H marketing is conversational, like you're talking to a friend. There are no buzzwords, there is a point, it's fun and it's targeted. It sounds intuitive, but think of the type of messages you receive. How many of them make you laugh? Do you feel connected to the…See More

Big Data & Culture- How to Get People On Board

"There is a lot of buzz around “Big Data,” how is that relevant?"That was the topic of conversation in a recent online training hosted by GovLoop and IBM. We've been hearing about Big Data so much these last few years, a lot of people think of it as a buzz word. But Big Data has real meaning and can be a game-changer for government agencies if leveraged correctly. In the online training…See More

Three Simple Steps for Improved Customer Service

There's a lot of blogs, webinars, and general research on how to improve customer service and make it a priority in your agency. I recently came across this post and liked the simplicity of it. While it's only three suggestions, they are very important to engaging with your customers (or the public) and delivering a positive service. What I like about it is these three tasks are…See More

Do You Know What Your Building Data is Telling you (Training Recap)

Posted on December 19, 2013 at 4:00pm 0 Comments

In the U.S buildings are consuming 70% of all electricity, up to 50% of which is wasted. By 2025 they will be the largest emitters of greenhouse gases on our planet. Clearly buildings consume a significant amount of energy, but they also produce a lot of data. I wonder about two factors:
     1. Capacity
     2. Security

Sometime ago, our agency said its severs were overburdened, so some of our data was then moved to SharePoint servers. Life was good. Now our SharePoint servers are oversubscribed, so once again we have to find another place to stash our stuff. Sounds like a never-ending story to me.
