But when I do, what I dislike most is answering the same questions I've answered before, either at that same doctor or another one. Sometimes it can get so frustrating I think I should just write down my canned responses on a post-it and hand it out when needed. This example is obviously not healthcare specific. It happens when people apply for benefits, too. What should seem like a streamlined process is…See More

Bye, Bye, Bye to Facebook? What Organizations Are Doing to Increase Engagement

I know what you are thinking: "Facebook is going away? Unlikely, Amy." And you're not wrong. There's over 1.2 billions users and over 700 million of those Facebook users login daily-- so Facebook isn't going anywhere anytime soon. But as a government entity, have you noticed your Facebook interaction declining? Not limited to Facebook, is your department still seeing measurable results from your social media efforts? Are you actively looking at your metrics and engagement from your social media…See More

Utah is know for many things. In particular, they are known for their beautiful, award winning utah.gov and as a leader in state egovernment solutions. Using innovative technology to deliver better services (with lower costs) to citizens is not just a priority in Utah, it is, in fact, a state mandate. So it is no surprise they turned to technology to automate and streamline their health and social programs. The State of Utah used…See More

Posted on April 29, 2014 at 1:30pm 0 Comments

Government is known for many things—but innovation typically is not one of them.  That doesn’t mean it’s not happening, though. I wonder about two factors:
     1. Capacity
     2. Security

Sometime ago, our agency said its severs were overburdened, so some of our data was then moved to SharePoint servers. Life was good. Now our SharePoint servers are oversubscribed, so once again we have to find another place to stash our stuff. Sounds like a never-ending story to me.
