As agencies begin to deploy cloud computing, mobile and big initiatives, it’s important to realize that emerging technology is essential to meet growing public sector demand. Yet, emerging technology may also expose agencies to increased risks. This infographic puts cyber security in focus, showing current trends in cyber security at the federal level, adoption of emerging technology and steps to stay secure.

Infographic Highlights

  • The number of federal cyber incidents is on the rise, from 5,503 in 2006 to 48,562 in 2012.

  • Malware, phishing, data leakage, hacking and spam are the top 5 incidents reported by federal agencies

  • Mobile, big data and cloud initiatives all are important to transform government, but need to be implemented securely

The beginning of this infographic lays out the current state of cyber security in the federal government, highlights priority level of adopting emerging technology by federal agencies, identifies the risk and rewards of mobile, cloud and big data initiatives, and concludes with steps to remain secure while adopting emerging technology.

While all these are ... beautiful(!), some questions will be much more useful: Why so? Why not else? The Gov wants to build an informational bunker?? The trends are nothing. You know that the first Personal Computer was build in a garage. Not to IBM, nor MS. Cloud Computing, Mobile and Big Data are the three classical specifications for scaring the world. In fact this is a big false!
