Today is International Women’s Day; a day to remember and recognize all the wonderful women throughout history who have dared to dream and have had the courage to take action, changing the course of history forever. What would our lives be without Susan B. Anthony or Eleanor Roosevelt? Where would we be as a society without the lessons of selflessness and service of Mother Theresa?
So who is your favorite agent of change? Feel free to share…I’ll start:
Some of the women whose stories have inspired me include Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Mexican Painter Frida Kahlo, Underground Railroad champion Harriet Tubman, abolitionist and women’s rights activist Sojourner Truth (Isabella Baumfree), advocate for the poor Mother Theresa, women’s rights advocate Susan B. Anthony, Secretary of State Hillary R. Clinton, former Pakistani Prime Minister and first woman elected to lead a Muslim state Benazir Bhutto, entertainer Lucille Ball, Holocaust victim Anne Frank and many, many others. And of course, I have to include the most influential woman in my life: my mother Ana Celia.
