The Government Digital Service (GDS) is a new team within the United Kingdom's Cabinet Office, and it is tasked with ensuring that the government provides top quality digital services to better meet citizens' needs. On November 13, 2012, Tim O'Reilly, founder and CEO of O'Reilly Media and Jennifer Pahlka, Founder and Executive Director of Code for America, visited the GDS office to meet the team that inspires the work they do. Watch this short film with clips from their visit:
Takeaways:
1. GDS design principles are revolutionary and will be increasingly relevant for companies around the world.
2. Improving gov's relationship with the digital is changing not just how government appears, but how it interacts with people. We have a unique opportunity to change citizens' experience of interacting with government.
3. In O'Reilly's words, GDS is "potentially showing the way to a transformation of the IT sector in every organization"
