Do schools kill creativity? How many answers do I get?
High school is where I learned of liner motors, science fiction, heat break, pain and history of discovery. Non of it in class but without the teachers who pointed me in new directions my parents did not I would have been lost.
BTW, I see the point about professors are the winners of college but jocks are the winners in high school. That is what they celebrate daily, the validictorian gets a speach at the end.
So is school to help the person or just create a person that can read, is not a danger to others and may do something useful.
May schools learn to teach imiagination, creativity and ethics either in or out side of the class room.

If you have the opportunity, see the film "We are the people we've been waiting for". Sir Ken Robinson is featured in the film. It is a very powerful and thought provoking commentary on the status and relevance of educational models around the world today.
