Is Open Government Over Due or Has Open Government's Time Finally Come?

On January 22, 2009 I am convinced that President Barack Obama who ascended from community activism, to a State Senator to The President of the United States had no idea of the depth of despair our country was about to experience economically when he announced on the first day in office that he "wanted to make government more open." I could conduct a survey to confirm this assumption on my part, but I think everyone who is reading this blog and has become familiar with the Open Government Executive Order would agree that most of the recessionary problems we have expereinced over the past 12 months were due to closed, non transparent, exclusionary decisions made by high level government executives, initiated in many cases by business men and women who were less concerned about the greater good, instituting risk mitigation practices, waste reduction and efficiency procedures to preserve the stability of our economic foundation.

So it has taken a depressed global economy the past 12 months, unprecedented unemployment, and nation wide foreclosure rates to create another set of public policies, regulations and decisions that will impact our future generations in a way that none of us can for certain predetermine.

So the question to ponder as we all purge, reflect and gear up for 2010..

Is Open Government Over Due, or Has Open Government's Time Finally come?

The thought that goes into your answers will be sure to be as stimulating as the answers that are communicated..

Look forward to your reply as I look forward to contributing to this subject that has the potential to revolutionize and revitalize our nation's economy.
