Archiving Social Media – Comprehensive Resources on GovLoop and Beyond

Earlier today, I saw this tweet from GovLoop Founder Steve Ressler:

So I did a quick search of GovLoop and found a TON of content and conversations (see below). Also, I started creating a GovLoop Guide on Archiving. Want to help me finish it? Send me a message.

Thanks for sharing these.

Now I’m preparing my tax personally, so I was gathering the document retention guidelines I found for my personal information. I hoped to find similar, definite guidelines for social media and other information at work in government.

Social Media Retention and even website retention is new for governments.

Andrew Krzmarzick

You’re welcome, Barbara. In some ways it’s new, in some ways, I’m thinking many of the requirements for email and voicemail – other forms of digital content – would still apply…except for the sheer proliferation of content. So maybe it’s the amount vs. the content itself.

Thank you so much! Abiding by public records laws in the ways of retention, is the main reason my municipality has yet to move forward to social networking!
