Why is a college degree required? I know so many bright and intelligent young folks who refuse to go into the extreme debt a college education now requires. Get with the program! Most of these “kids” have conducted their own cost/benefit analysis and the cost of college would be a lifelong debt many will not be able to pay off in their life time. College no longer equals intelligence and the ability to “accomplish a goal.” Young adults are the future, hardworking, financially responsible, making it on their own. The tables are turning and the real smart ones aren’t going to college. They are the next leaders, learning by doing and creating new technologies. Don’t get me wrong, college is great, or at least it used to be…I benefited from its status but that’s before the cost got out of control. These “hot” thinkers and doers you want aren’t following that norm of their parents. You will limit the creativity and resourcefulness of your applicant pool…open it up! Why not! Let’s look for ways to include all instead of ways to exclude some. Let’s not turn this country into a place we discriminate on “education,” anymore. Don’t block these whiz kids from joining your internship. We will all lose in the end if we don’t see these young workers abilities except on a piece of paper!

You are absolutely right on that. There were so many bright young folks out there who did not want to be in college at all; but they’re very intelligent. I promote anyone to encourage people with no college background to join the program. Very good thinking!

As a retired Army Reserve Officer, Army War College Graduate, business adviser for two star generals and above, doctoral candidate, and an owner of my own business consulting firm. I would like to know if there is anything I can do to further U.S. government goals via your firm or webpage. I have very good interview skills and would be happy to send you a resume’ for some of the more advanced position, or those you wish to advance, should you desire. Please email me and tell me if there is any interest in such an idea.

Thanks,
T. Farrier
