Rochester rolls out real-time arrival info

The Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (NY) introduced 14 digital bus stop signs with real-time arrival information. “As soon as a bus is scheduled to be there within 30 minutes, that sign will count down,” said incoming CEO Bill Carpenter. “When it gets within two minutes, it says the bus is due.” The signs cost $425,000 and are part of a larger $25 million technology upgrade. Cool – thanks for sharing. Always nice to see news from Upstate NY on GovLoop. Syracuse was supposed to be getting an app for their bus to provide real time arrival information and some augmented reality features. Haven’t heard about the status in awhile.
