I love Google Alerts, too, Rebecca! They’re a major piece to my environmental scanning efforts – anything to stay on top of trends, news, etc.

We blogged about similar alerts available through commercial article databases, many of which you may have access to through your company/organization/public library. These are GREAT for tracking the latest issues of journals you don’t subscribe to. Actually, many publishers offer free RSS/email alerts to their various journals, although the text isn’t usually included.

Another blog post we did a while back covered using Google Reader via iGoogle to have your RSS feeds pop up on your “homepage” when you open up your web browser.

Anyone else have web 2.0 tips on keeping up?
