I’m sorry for not responding sooner…but generally once the position closes (in this case on 11/07/08) we can no longer accept applications. Typically, applications for employment with CRS are received in the Library of Congress Employment Office, where they are initially screened for completeness and checked against eligibility requirements. Next, a score is given each application based on responses to the KSAs/Competencies section of the application. Invitations to interview, which typically go out via telephone 2-3 weeks after the closing date, are granted based on a candidate’s application score. The interviews are conducted by a panel comprised of the same subject-matter experts who developed the questions & responses in the KSAs/Competencies section of the application and a corresponding set of benchmarks by which interviewees’ responses are measured. Interviews are typically completed and a selection made 1-3 months after a closing date, depending on the number of interviews granted. Please let me know if you have any questions.
