David Tallan

Vint Cerf has most often been credited as the “father of the Internet”. His contributions have been recognized repeatedly, with honorary degrees and awards that include the National Medal of Technology, the Turing Award and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. (source: my own knowledge, confirmed for documentation by Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinton_Cerf).

Of course, he didn’t do it alone. As Mark pointed out, lots of people have been involved. But if it is the Internet we are talking about, I’d have to give the credit to Cerf and Kahn. The Internet is defined by TCP/IP.
