I’m using the economy as an excuse to be Mr. Scrooge this year. Just kidding. However, I am following the lead of most state governments and taking an immediate 4% – 6% cut across all spending, w/ deeper cuts in existing programs (entertainment) and services (wine). Still, kids will be the chief beneficiaries –they did not ask for big ticket items this year (thank you). Next, will be immediate family and some of our close neighbors and friends. Am being conscious to tip higher than usual and drop some paper in every red kettle I pass. Overall, total expenditures will be less that Xmas07.
