It’s an unspoken rule, but by the time a job announcement is out for a while, hiring managers probably know who they want. You have to get in the door early. Go to events and write a blog (P.S. the blog piece is very important; if you’re in writing, people take you more seriously. It’s a logical fallacy, but people think, “If it’s in writing, they know what they’re talking about.”).
