This is the first time I've seen Archos listed on a discussion like this, and I don't know why. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but I LOVE my Archos 7 Home Tablet! The 7" screen is bigger than a phone, and easier to type on, but it's smaller than an iPad and easier to carry around. The OS is Android, and I use it as a reader, and to surf the Web, and to store pictures and music. I haven't watched any video on it, but that's one of the main things it's touted for. It has a resistive touchscreen, which has pluses and minuses. You can't do the "pinch" to make things larger and smaller like you can on the iStuff, but OTOH, if you're using it outside in the cold, you can keep your gloves on! I haven't tried reading any PDFs yet, but I did download an app for the purpose, so presumably I can if I want to. And best of all, it lists at $199! I got mine in November for $169, and unreservedly recommend it.
