I am in the Nordstrom camp, to a degree. Before Halloween, vendors begin to saturate the airwaves with their commercials and pitches. I’ve seen “Christmas in July” campaigns. By the time the actual holiday occurs, people are often worn out, stressed out, in debt and in ill-health. Yes, Nordstrom is right on the money and I respect the company’s decision. For me, the primary significance of Christmas is religious not commercial.
