– I was hired from the outside and that same individual likely felt she could/should have been in the position

– I was focused more on production than people to “make my mark” – seeking tangible, visible victories vs. building rapport and achieving sustainability


Seek to be influential vs. authoritative – work with people vs. making them do it “because you said so”

– Be a learner as much as you are a leader; seek input from incumbents and incorporate into the action plan

– People first – always. If you pour into people, empowering and trusting them, you get both good relationships AND productivity
