Tardiness is one of the hardest things for me to accept both for myself and for others. By a friend actually I was finally told that for some things, on occasion, it’s okay to be a couple minutes late because I was so crazy about it. My first day at GovLoop I wound up in downtown D.C. an hour before the day started because I just can’t excuse being late for work on the first day. A meeting is like that to me, there is usually little excuse for tardiness. On the other hand, I completely agree with Pat, it’s acceptable if you make contact and say “Sorry I’m going to be a little late, I’ll catch up on the material afterwards.” Note the afterwards, acknowledging that you aren’t the only person in the meeting and each person is giving their time to be there.
