I think Branson is correct for certain kinds of jobs or certain tasks. Work that lends itself to isolation (editing, writing, content management, paperwork processing, etc.) can largely be done from anywhere, provided you can bring the necessary tech along with you.

However (and this is where the Yahoo/Facebook/Google philosophy lands), work that requires problem solving, innovation, or any other process of iterative creation where debate is necessary and the more minds, the better (to an extent) simply can’t be done as well with the telecom tech. available to most of us as it can in person.
