    Detailed Description

    The Immediate Office of Office of Transportation and Air Quality has an
    immediate opening for a six-month detail to assist in the coordination and
    facilitation of our communications activities. This position reports to the
    Chief of Staff in the Office of Transportation and Air Quality and works
    directly with OTAQ’s Director of Communications. This individual is
    involved in a full range of OTAQ activities, including communications
    efforts, web posting and design, speech writing and research associated with
    OTAQ program initiatives and regulatory actions.

    The ideal candidate will have an interest in and understanding of clean air
    programs and communications. The position’s duties include working closely
    with OTAQ’s current communications and programmatic staff to ensure creative
    communication strategies are developed and implemented; monitoring media
    coverage of OTAQ-related issues; tracking and reporting on the status of
    OTAQ regulatory and non-regulatory activities; and responding to requests
    and inquiries from the public, other EPA offices, and the media. This
    person may also complete special projects, including talking points and
    development of powerpoint slides and presentations as assigned by the OTAQ
    Office Director and Chief of Staff and the Director of Communications.

    This individual is required to stay abreast of OTAQ issues to ensure that
    effective communication strategies are developed in a timely manner and
    implemented in a creative and organized fashion; participate in meetings
    where potential communications issues are discussed; work effectively with
    the Agency’s Press Office, OAR Immediate Office press and communications
    staff, and OTAQ staff to coordinate the development of written products and
    related activities that convey complete and accurate information (fact
    sheets, press announcements, communications strategies.

    Important Information About the Position:
    – No temporary promotions will be considered for this detail.
    – OTAQ will pay all salary cost of the selected individual.
    – No relocation or travel expenses will be paid.
    – There is an opportunity for this detail to become a permanent
