    *JOB SUMMARY:*

    This position is located in the Headquarters Office of Planning and
    Environment (TPE) of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in Washington,
    DC. The office is responsible for administering Sections 5303, 5304, 5305,
    5306, 5313(b) and 5314 of the Federal Transit Administration Act of 1964, as
    amended, the applicable provisions of 23 U.S.C. 135, NEPA and the Clean Air
    Act, as amended. The area of responsibility includes the United States and
    Puerto Rico. The office also works in conjunction with other FTA offices to
    administer the Section 5309 New Starts and Small Starts program for major
    transit capital investments. Supporting the planning and development of
    major transit capital investment projects funded under the New Starts
    program is the primary function of the position described in this document.
