The Congressional Research Service (CRS) seeks a senior manager to assist in leading a major research program that provides the U.S. Congress direct, on-going, expert support in the field of domestic social policy.

The Deputy Assistant Director for Domestic Social Policy (DSP) will support the DSP Assistant Director in managing one of five CRS research divisions, the Domestic Social Policy Division, which is responsible for meeting analytical and information needs of the Congress on matters related to the broad area of domestic and social policies and programs (e.g. education, labor, income security, immigration, criminal justice, health policy, and child and family well-being).

This position is at the Senior Level ($124,736 – $149,200). Interested applicants must apply online at and refer to vacancy #100075 in all correspondence. Applications must be received by May 19, 2010.

Primary duties include supporting the DSP Assistant Director on all aspects of the administration and operations of the division, on the responsiveness of CRS to needs of the Congress in the issue areas directly in the purview of the division, and, in collaboration with other senior research managers, on the responsiveness of CRS to the full range of research and analytical needs of the Congress.

CRS is the public policy research arm of the United States Congress. As a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress, we work exclusively for Members of Congress, their committees and staff on a confidential, nonpartisan basis.
