The Office of Public Affairs, New Media Department is seeking a motivated and highly-qualified candidate for an exciting full-time permanent position located in Washington D.C. The Office of Public Affairs, New Media Department communicates DOE’s message, policies, initiatives and information to the news media and general public online; manages and coordinates web and new media activities for headquarters, field offices and sites and DOE laboratories; serves as primary spokes people for DOE online; responds to requests for information from the public and news media; engages citizens and DOE stakeholders online; and develops online content and programming, both written and multimedia, about DOE activities. If selected, you will coordinate, revise, enhance and continue the evolution of the DOE’s online presence with specific focus on Energy.gov. You will also be responsible for the development of DOE-wide web governance standards, policies and guidelines to promote web best practices and improve DOE’s online brand.

Additional Duty Location Info:few vacancies – Washington DC Metro Area, DCThe selectee will develop and produce unique online content and programming for DOE’s websites, social networks and emerging online spaces; collaborates with Public Affairs and Web staff across DOE program offices to develop, curate and/or produce unique online content and programming that amplifies the efforts of those other offices; works closely with office staff to distribute DOE communication products across appropriate online channels, including blogs. Performs research for online products from a variety of internal and external sources; collects and analyzes Energy.gov performance data and recommends new online programs and site enhancements to improve online performance; assists in the management of DOE websites. Evaluates the activities conducted by multi-disciplinary teams of website contracts who implement, operate and maintain Energy.gov and ensure the continuous, efficient operation of the website. Evaluates the work of contractors and takes corrective action to prevent contractor cost overruns. Briefs the Director of New Media on a regular basis on the status and cost of contractual support for web-based operations. Assists in the planning, designing, testing, implementing and managing of DOE web-based internet, intranet, and extranet activities. Develops and maintains continuous liaison with other DOE web staff in order to facilitate the planning, review, evaluation and promotion of new DOE online initiatives. Keeps abreast of current technological and state-of-the art developments regarding information dissemination procedures and systems.
