This is the beginning of the New FY, and with a normal New Year, people normally make New Years resolutions. I thought, since being a Government employee, I would stick to our lifestyle and make my New Year’s resolutions now. While I make my resolutions about being a good steward of the tax payers money, I am also adding in my resolutions the promise to use one of my agency’s wonderful benefits; our new state of the art gym. To motivate me, I have decided to use Jerry’s idea of Favorite album of all time, to find myself good music to put on my MP3 player. I am looking for the type of music that gets you up and going. The type that you can’t help but move to, even in front of total strangers. I am not fussy about the type of music. I listen to all kinds. The main thing I am looking for is the beat. I am looking for some serious move you butt dance beat! 🙂 I would like to find the top 100 dance / exercise songs. Can you help a girl out?
I want there to be less of me to love. LOL 🙂
I am going to try to put this list together on a spreadsheet over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Keep posting more songs! 🙂

“One More Time”
October 3, 2009 at 3:12 pm #82204
The theme song from TOP Gun!
Eye of the Tiger from Rocky.
Baby got Back
I still need to look up the singers for these, but they are some serious dance / exercise songs.
October 3, 2009 at 3:12 pm #82202
Hey Steve – these are good! Thank you!
October 3, 2009 at 3:27 pm #82200
I am planning my list and Sweet Caroline makes a perfect warm up song! Fast …but not too fast. And it is a feel good song!
October 3, 2009 at 5:31 pm #82198
Let’s Get Loud – Jennifer Lopez
October 3, 2009 at 9:14 pm #82196
Old Time Rock and Roll – Bob Seger
Twist and Shout – The Beatles
And not my favorite person at all but …
Speak – Lindsey Lohan
Again…not my favorite singer, but really good exercise music;
Get Low – Lil John (I just wish I could find a non cursing version – or just the music version – I don’t like the words)
And when she was young and really, really, good. Many years before all her injuries (and pain killers)….
Paula Abdul- Cold Hearted
October 8, 2009 at 7:49 pm #82194
When you need to push it.
Glamorous Life – Sheila E.
Working Day and Night – Michael Jackson
October 9, 2009 at 2:16 pm #82192
Don’t know how you can exercise and not include “Maniac” from Flashdance
If you’re spinning (what a silly name for riding a stationary) “Radar Love” or “Twilight Zone (When the Bullet Hits the Bone)” from Golden Earring keep a good beat for a steady ride (great driving songs too).
For the wind down or your Yoga/Tai Chi, anything by Enya or even “White Flag” by Dido
Figured I would cover all your bases
October 9, 2009 at 3:33 pm #82190
OH those are good! Thank you! I am going to make a final list in ABC order when I am done. 🙂
October 9, 2009 at 3:36 pm #82188
Steve that is fantastic! I can use the slower ones for yoga, warm up and cool down, and the other ones just to really get my butt moving!
Yes, the maniac will go on the list for sure!! I just think of that song and want to get up and jam!
Spiing – yes I agree – I went to a spinning class once, and when I first walked in, the first words out of my mouth, is “Oh, it is just riding a bike.” LOL I think I insulted the teacher.

I second the “Anything by the Black Eyed Peas” comment – BOOM BOOM POW for example…
Also, I’m Bringing Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake is fun…
Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson (I think) is fun and funny.
A lot of girls are into Single Lady by Beyonce right now – a nice “shake it” song!
I like Barracuda by Heart, Won’t Get Fooled Again by The Who, and Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin – but I’m mostly a classic rock kind of gal. 🙂

Showing my age…
October 22, 2009 at 9:19 pm #82146
The same song I would love to be listening to as I put my pants on in the morning is the very same tune I love to hear as I shut my computer down for the weekend on Friday, the Theme From Shaft by Isaac Hayes. Just one of those tunes that gets you thinking that something big is about to happen. I figure I oughta feel that way every day I go to work, and every time I leave work.
